Negative ease describes a garment measurement that is smaller than the corresponding body measurement.
To express the reduction as a percentage, divide the difference between body and garment measurements by the body measurement and multiply by 100. For example, an illustrative 100 cm body measurement and 90 cm garment measurement represent a 10% reduction. This calculation does not establish safe or effective compression. Choose reductions using actual fabric resistance, recovery, intended use, and fit trials.
