An acceptance quality limit, or AQL, is used to select an acceptance-sampling plan for inspecting production lots.
It is not a guarantee that the shipped order contains no defects, nor a simple allowance for a fixed defective percentage in every shipment. Agree the inspection standard, lot size, inspection level, defect categories, and acceptance rules before production. Apply additional controls to critical risks that routine workmanship sampling may not adequately address.
